Keep in Touch

Miss me? Thinking of me? Wondering what I'm doing? Wanna drop me a line?

Send me some love from across the world!

Communication has been turned on it's head since the Peace Corps was founded back in 1961. It is so ridiculously easy to keep in touch! It's almost like I'm not even gone :-)
Here is where I am living for the next 2 years:

Now, here's how to reach me all the way across the globe...

DO NOT:

  • Call Me - But feel free to creepily call just to hear my voice on the outgoing message. Beep.
  • Text Me - Unless you're okay with the delayed response time of 27 months.
  • Show up at my old apartment for a surprise visit - Though you still might find a friend to talk to.
  • Send a carrier pigeon - They are not to be trusted.
  • Fashion a can and string communication device - Already tried that on Semester at Sea. Apparently the circumference of the earth is longer than 9 1/2 feet.
  • Yodel - I am a novice yodeler, at best.

INSTEAD TRY...

SNAIL MAIL:

Wanna send me a letter or a package?

Take a look at my WISH LIST for some ideas of what to send.

Send all the love to:

Erica Johnson - Peace Corps
SMA Negeri 1 Jalancagak
Jl. Raya Jalancagak no. 61, Jalancagak, Subang 41281
INDONESIA

Sending a package can cost around $40 to $80 (depending on the weight) and can take about 2-4 weeks to get to me through USPS. I know it's steep, but maybe try and have some friends pitch in. It would make my day/week/month!

- NO ELECTRONICS
- Don't send a package a month before or during Ramadan (2015: June 18th-July 17th). It could delay your package up to 5 months!

21st CENTURY OPTIONS:

Feel free to download and use any and all of these sweet apps:
  • Facebook - chat, messaging, you know the score.
  • What'sApp - a free texting app (most PC volunteers use this to communicate with each other, so I will be using this one regularly).
  • GroupMe - a free private and group texting app (I use this all the time with various social circles).
  • Snapchat - a free (temporary) picture and video messaging app.
  • Skype - free voice and video chat (could be spotty depending on where I'm stationed).
  • Gchat - same same.
  • Email - There's always email...
  • And of course, feel free to comment on the posts right here on my blog!

"We'll always have the internets."

Your words, no matter how short, mundane, trivial, boring, or incoherent... are priceless to me.

I hope to hear from you soon!  Like... how about now? :-)
